Galloway worked closely with the city to develop a new commercial center along Colfax Avenue. The project focused around the design and construction of a new Home Depot on an urban in-fill site.
The Galloway team held numerous “listening sessions” with various residential and business groups to understand development concerns and issues and to present conceptual ideas and plans for feedback.
The Home Depot store is unique in that it incorporates art deco architecture to relate to the corridor’s overall architectural theme. Site elements, outdoor spaces, and landscape material bring a pedestrian presence back to Colfax Avenue.
Public art was also a requirement for the site, and three wind-driven kinetic steel sculptures were commissioned. Galloway coordinated with the artist and developer to ensure that the screen walls along the project’s sidewalk would support the pieces and to also ensure proper placement.
