Galloway was a key member of Flying J’s design team for more than 100 Flying J Travel Plazas across the country. As the fuel system consultant for each project, Galloway provide complete fuel system design services and assisted in development of Flying J’s fuel system standards.
Galloway’s knowledge of national, state, and local fuel system codes and regulations, familiarity with the various fuel system components and their manufacturers, and extensive experience in fuel facility design contributed to the success of Flying J’s development program.
A typical Flying J Travel Plaza is situated on a 22-acre site and includes an approximately 17,000 sf main building; six automobiles, three recreation vehicles, and three propane dispensers beneath an overhead canopy; and a separate truck fueling area with 12 fueling positions with an overhead canopy.
Utilizing five underground fuel storage tanks with a total capacity of 92,000 gallons and an above-ground propane storage tank, a Flying J Travel Plaza is designed to sell approximately one million gallons of fuel per month.
