Handy and Hertha Dam Breach Analysis

In support of an emergency action plan, Galloway completed a hydraulic analysis of a breach of Handy Dam and Hertha Dam. The hydraulic breach analysis was conducted using a two-dimensional hydraulic model created in the Army Corps of Engineers’ Hydraulic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) software. The hydraulic analysis determined the resulting floodplain from each breach as well as key hydraulic parameters including depth of inundation, flow rate and velocity at any given time during the dam breach.
