Town of Johnstown 2nd Street Bridge Replacement

2nd Street Bridge - Bridge

Client Name

Town of Johnstown

Location

Johnstown, Colorado

Completion Date

Spring 2022

Galloway was the engineer of record for the design-build project that replaced the approximately 60-year-old, 30-foot wide, 2nd Street Bridge over the Hillsborough Ditch in Johnstown, Colorado. The project included widening vehicle and pedestrian travel lanes to provide safer traffic movements at the intersection of three local streets on the way to the Town’s high school.

The replacement culvert crossing was designed to accommodate a two-lane major collector, sidewalks, parapet walls, and hand/guard rails. This replacement structure was designed to meet CDOT standards and features a 54-foot wide, single-span 20’W x 4’H reinforced concrete box culvert (RCBC). Our team worked to relocate the existing irrigation headgate and associated measurement structure upstream.

Galloway provided the following design and permitting services: water resources, land survey, structural engineering, and traffic engineering. Our team also provided construction-related services, including addressing RFIs, construction staking, submittal/shop drawing reviews, construction oversight, materials testing, and compilation of the as-constructed drawings.
