The Washington County Solid Waste Landfill provides solid waste services for residents and businesses in the region. Established in 1978, the Washington County Solid Waste District is dedicated to enhancing waste management as the community experiences significant growth. To improve landfill operations and accommodate rising site traffic, infrastructure modernization is a top priority.

To support this effort, the Washington County Solid Waste District engaged Galloway to provide architectural design, land survey, MEP engineering, and interior design services for a new 5,532-sf administration building and 1,047-sf scale house. The primary goal was to improve safety and traffic flow for the increasing volume of private and commercial vehicles while preparing for expected future growth.

Our design supports expansion and incorporates advanced technology to boost operational efficiency and improve customer service. A new weighing software system enables automated lane operations and tracks waste trends to support smarter, data-driven decisions.

Our survey team used drone technology to capture detailed images and measurements, providing accurate data on boundaries and elevation changes. The drone data helped generate precise maps and clear reports that guided effective planning and design.

The exterior of the new facilities integrates with the surrounding landscape and existing structures. Our team prioritized user-oriented design, ensuring interconnectivity between the two buildings, improving functionality for diverse users, and creating safer, more efficient site access and circulation.
