Originally built in 2004, the four-story Holiday Inn Express location in Astoria, Oregon, is being renovated to meet the latest brand standards and reflect the local history. Situated in America’s oldest settlement west of the Rockies, the building is surrounded by historical charm. Galloway’s interior design team is updating the 98 guest rooms and public spaces to blend with the town’s historic features while adhering to the Holiday Inn’s contemporary criteria.
The updated interior will feature furniture and finishes in blues, yellows, and oranges inspired by Astoria sunsets over the Columbia River. Warm walnut finishes with accents of cognac, golds, and deep blues will complement the neutral light gray tones. New stone-look tiles refresh the lobby and dining area, while carpet insets add softness and warmth.
Aiming to showcase the area’s rich history, much of the hotel’s existing art will be repurposed, adding a new mural of the Megler Bridge – a landmark for Astoria that connects Oregon and Washington.
In addition to interior design, Galloway is also providing architectural design and MEP engineering services. The final product will maintain Astoria’s historic seaside atmosphere, creating a welcoming space for new and returning guests.
