3 acres
Utah’s Hogle Zoo is expanding the Wild Utah exhibit on the east side of its campus, which is currently only accessible by train.
Once complete, the three-acre project will add a new footpath across the existing Stillman Bridge, guiding guests through the riparian corridor where they will experience and connect with native species and conservation efforts. Along with the addition of exhibit habitats, a boardwalk along the banks of Emigration Creek will simulate a wildlife crossing by walking over a section of the Zoofari Express train route near the cougar exhibit.
To assist in completing this project, Galloway is providing civil engineering services, including site demolition, site grading coordination, and utility and drainage design. The site had significant elevation changes across the project, and its proximity to Emigration Creek created a unique challenge for drainage. Galloway worked closely with the zoo staff to identify and implement stormwater quality measures to help preserve the riparian corridor running through the site.
Located at the foothills of Emigration Canyon since 1931, Utah’s Hogle Zoo is home to animals from diverse ecosystems. Learn more about this fantastic organization at: HogleZoo.org
