Developing the next generation of professionals is essential to the future of Galloway and the AEC industry. Through our internship program, G.R.A.D. (Galloway Recognizes and Develops), students gain meaningful, hands-on experience while being introduced to the collaborative culture that defines our company.
“At Galloway, our interns are team members. They work on real-life projects, take on meaningful tasks, and collaborate alongside experienced professionals,” shares Taylor Duryea, Galloway’s early career talent strategist.
In addition to the technical skills they learn and practice, interns participate in a professional development lunch series designed to help them build business knowledge, strengthen soft skills, and expand their professional networks. Through sessions led by Galloway leaders, interns learn about the company’s history, core values, benefits, career development opportunities, and industry best practices while connecting with employees across disciplines.
Since 2022, G.R.A.D. has grown significantly, more than doubling in size and expanding from four offices to 11. This growth reflects our continued commitment to creating opportunities for students and investing in the next generation of AEC professionals.
The success of the program extends well beyond the internship experience. Over the past six years, about 87% of interns who received full-time offers chose to launch their careers at Galloway, far exceeding the national architecture and engineering industry benchmark of 51% to 63%.
Many of Galloway’s leaders began their own careers as recent graduates, making the development of emerging professionals a meaningful part of our culture. “As much as the internship is valuable to their growth, it also helps Galloway prepare for future generations of employees,” says Taylor. “It’s this mutual benefit that has Galloway invested in the program in a big way.”
Through mentorship, hands-on experience, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, G.R.A.D. provides students with a strong foundation to begin their careers and make an impact from day one.

“I had the opportunity to work on real building projects and see firsthand how the mechanical engineering concepts I learned in school are applied in a professional setting. One of the most valuable things I learned was the importance of coordination amongst all of the teams. Being involved in project meetings and collaborating with different disciplines helped me see how engineering decisions affect the overall success of a project.
I also improved my skills with industry tools like Revit and Bluebeam while becoming more familiar with engineering standards, building codes, and company workflows. I feel much more prepared to enter my chosen career field because of this internship.”
