Salt Lake City need to expand from a single courtroom to five operating courtrooms to meet case load projections. The City desired a central downtown location that could provide the full range of Justice Court Services. Our architecture team was given the task of renovating an existing downtown office building into a complete courts facility. An addition was required to provide the 22,500 sf needed for proper servicing of this five-court facility.
The end product is a five courtroom facility which includes an enlarged arraignment court, video arraignment capabilities, secure detainee holding and delivery sallyport, traffic hearing and clerking functions. Upstairs courtrooms take advantage of a skylight daylighting scheme.
