Murray City, Utah, is expanding its public works facility to meet the increasing demands of infrastructure and services due to population growth and aging structures. Originally designed for a smaller scope of operations, the existing space no longer meets the City’s increased work volume and storage needs. To address this, Murray City selected Galloway to design a state-of-the-art administration office and fleet operations facility to enhance public services and responsiveness. This project includes equipment storage bays, an outdoor covered storage building, a salt storage facility, and a vactor station.

Working closely with the City, the Galloway team conducted a space needs assessment and master planning process to identify the facility’s requirements, evaluate existing conditions, and explore test fit options for the overall design. These activities help inform the detailed drawings and specifications throughout the permitting and bidding phases, providing the project aligns with the City’s unique requirements and maintaining consistent design standards.

Through proactive collaboration with the owners representative, construction manager, and the City, we addressed challenges related to exterior finishes by presenting the pros and cons of each option, supporting informed decision-making. We also confirmed proper scope coordination and the integration of existing utilities, including site layout, grading, storm sewer, and water systems.

This facility will bring lasting value to the Murray community by optimizing site circulation and creating secure, weather-protected spaces that extend equipment lifespan and support efficient public works operations. Galloway’s comprehensive services, including architectural and interior design, civil engineering, and landscape architecture, help modernize the City’s infrastructure while preparing it for future growth.
