Galloway partnered with JR Real Estate Group to support the successful rezoning of King’s Grove, a planned residential community in Prince William County. King’s Grove is a 15.5-acre residential development in Prince William County, Virginia, designed to address the growing demand for diverse housing options within the Government Activity Center area. The community features approximately 30 percent open space, a perimeter walking trail, and a range of amenities including a clubhouse, multi-use courts, playgrounds, and a dog park, creating a walkable and amenity-rich environment for residents.
Galloway’s traffic engineering team provided comprehensive traffic study and transportation planning services to support this residential development, which has direct access from Prince William Parkway. The scope of work included evaluating multiple access and intersection control alternatives with careful consideration of vehicular operations, pedestrian safety, and overall network performance. Alternative intersection controls, such as roundabouts, were analyzed; however, a traditional traffic signal was ultimately selected as the preferred solution due to its ability to eliminate operational pinch points, provide the safest pedestrian crossing of the wide arterial roadway, and improve connectivity to adjacent commercial properties and future developments. The signal also addressed the lack of existing pedestrian crossings for thousands of feet in either direction along the parkway.
In addition, Galloway coordinated with IMEG to develop an internal grid of streets within the residential community that complies with county and VDOT requirements while promoting a livable, walkable community design.
