12,800 sf
As the City of St. George has rapidly developed over the last decade and relocated its airport, the City needs to provide the citizens in the Desert Canyons community with necessary fire services. The 12,800 sf station will offer services to the latest nearby development and residents and support the airport fire station. With the site adjacent to the airport, it was necessary to coordinate the height of the training tower in design. We also had to consider the soil types for the structures and the stormwater management system.
Working closely with the City, Galloway adjusted the design based on insight gained from prototypes of previous stations to fit the different functional requirements for this particular station. Taking into consideration the unique site constraints, we also adapted the station to be a better fit, while still fulfilling the needs of the facility. The design was modified to add a dorm room and restroom adjacent to the battalion chief’s office, and some spaces were adapted to accommodate updated equipment requirements.
The fire station includes four apparatus bays, combined training and community room, single-user private restrooms, and an ancillary storage building and training tower.
Galloway provided architectural design, interior design, MEP, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services.
