City of Bluffdale
Serving the eastside of Bluffdale, Utah, this is the city’s second fire station. The new fire station provides fire and EMS services to the surrounding residences, educational, business, and manufacturing facilities. Historically, emergency services to this area have been challenging, as the site is divided by a railroad corridor with limited cross access.
The architectural design incorporated many sustainable elements into the fire station.
Housing and support for a six-man crew
Three apparatus bays
Community policing office
Combined community and training room
Other design features include a roof-mounted PV system that supplies approximately 50% of the station’s power use and a high-efficiency HVAC system utilizing geothermal heat exchange. In addition to efficient system design, Energy Star-rated appliances were provided.
