Galloway Completes More than 1,000 Projects with Murphy

September 26th, 2024

Galloway officially completed its one-thousandth fueling and one-thousandth photometrics project with Murphy Oil USA, marking a significant milestone in a 14-year partnership built on trust, quality work, and consistent collaboration. Over the years, Galloway has provided fueling design and photometrics for Murphy’s nationwide program, while also supporting their regional civil engineering efforts.

When asked about reaching this milestone, Dave Jones, Galloway’s director of fueling, shared, “It’s rewarding to work with a client for so long, keeping them satisfied with our work. But beyond that, the relationships we have built are invaluable.”

The partnership began through Carl Schmidtlein, Galloway’s director of land development, whose connection with Walmart set the stage for the long-standing relationship with Murphy, as Murphy fuel stations were originally located in Walmart parking lots.

“It’s been fascinating to watch Murphy grow alongside Galloway,” said Jim Galloway, photometrics team manager at Galloway. They’ve gone from small 200-square-foot fuel kiosks in Walmart parking lots to developing their own full sites with 2,800-square-foot convenience stores and commercial fueling lanes.”

Key team members Jim and Dave have been instrumental in maintaining transparent communication, listening to understanding evolving needs, and immersing themselves in Murphy’s team to ensure project success. Together, they have also helped Murphy evolve their fueling and photometric standards throughout the years.

“I’m proud of this accomplishment,” said Jim. “I want the younger staff to get excited about these opportunities. In 2009, I was telling Murphy their lighting poles needed to be the color green—now we’re over 1,000 projects deep. It’s not just about one client or one project; it’s about building a legacy.”
