Temporary Outdoor Expansions for Restaurants and Bars: Our Development Services Team Can Help

June 25th, 2020

Due to the recent restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 outbreak, the City of Denver has implemented a temporary program to allow restaurants and bars to operate in outdoor settings adjacent to their businesses.

This program will allow flexibility to business owners who need additional space to comply with the state’s public health order to allow for sit-down reopen with social distancing guidelines. Certain conditions and restrictions apply depending on your properties underlying zoning and whether or not your business has a liquor license.

According to the City’s website, “City staff will begin reviewing proposals immediately. If approved to open, expanded patio areas can remain in place through September 7, 2020, subject to local and state health guidelines.”

The City has outlined the types of businesses that are eligible on their website along with information on how to start the process. For more information on this process, we’ve featured a quick online handout from the City of Denver below. Visit their website for more details.
