Nico Redfern Recognized as an AEC Industry Rising Star

May 12th, 2025

Nico Redfern, mechanical project manager in Galloway’s Northern Colorado office, has been selected by Zweig Group as a 2025 Rising Star in the AEC industry. This award is designed to recognize young professionals who have set themselves apart by demonstrating exceptional technical ability, leadership qualities, effective teaching and research skills, and a passion for community and industry service.

Having joined Galloway in 2019 as a mechanical design engineer, Nico quickly demonstrated his talent in designing and integrating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. In 2022, he was promoted to project manager where he leads employees of Galloway’s mechanical engineering team with an approach that reflects the company’s values of people, hard work, integrity, an entrepreneurial spirit, and community.

By 2023, Nico’s strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, and proven ability to excel at client relationship building and management resulted in an offer to join Galloway’s Associate Program where he is a significant part of the company’s continual improvement and development. Two years later, Nico’s ongoing contributions to the company, its people, and clients resulted in his rise to becoming a Senior Associate.

Knowing professional development extends beyond on-the-job experience and leadership skills, Nico invested in his future by successfully earning his Associate Commissioning Professional (ACP) license from the Building Commissioning Certification Board. Combined with his more than six years’ experience in commissioning, Nico also now supports the Galloway commissioning team for federal and municipal facilities.

In addition to his engineering responsibilities, Nico commits time to bolstering Galloway’s culture and developing young talent. He is actively involved and part of the leadership team for the Galloway People of Color (GPOC) network which has a mission to foster an environment for ideas and experiences to be shared. He is also involved in Galloway’s mentorship program for coaching emerging leaders, is a member of the company’s Diversity Committee, participates in Galloway’s charitable program (Galloway Gives), and volunteers at his local Boys and Girls Club.

“Nico brings so much to our mechanical engineering team, the company culture, and the communities in which he lives and works,” said Alicia Thorpe, MEP engineering team manager and Galloway principal. “It’s not just his professional accomplishments but also his commitment to always do right by people that personifies the type of workplace Galloway strives to provide.”

Nico’s selection makes him one of 26 chosen to the 2025 class of Rising Stars in the AEC Industry by Zweig’s panel of judges.
