The Shoppes at Castle Pines project is a high-end commercial center anchored by a 68,000 square foot King Soopers grocery store as well as a King Soopers fuel facility. An additional 34,000 square feet of retail space was also developed, including two commercial pad sites.
The site design included the difficult constraint of being located within multiple regional drainage basins and having limited space for stormwater quality and detention. Due to the site constraints, Galloway designed an underground detention system along the rear of the King Soopers as well as above-ground water quality and detention in front of the development to satisfy the stormwater detention requirements for the site.
Galloway also represented the client in working with the county to overcome challenges that existed with the site, including increased requirements for landscaping and architecture as well as effectively integrating adjoining roadways that had not yet been fully master planned.
